Playing with my new toys!

My latest order arrived on Friday and I hopped straight to it as I've been longing to have a go at creating easel cards with the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die. I've seen so many lovely cards online, especially Julia Leece and Bronwyn Eastley. I made 4 cards in total trying different ideas for the butterfly "bodies" and "feelers" and will share these in the next few days. For this card I started with watercolour paper and wanted to create a stained glass look. I haven't had much experience with watercolouring so am pretty happy with my first try!

"Heartfelt" Layout

Here's the other page I'm uploading for the latest challenge on StampAMemory. This one is Real Red! It's actually an oldie but a goodie as I made it a couple of years ago, but wanted to share it as 1. it's RED, and 2. it's got a love theme, and February is a great month for a love theme! Apart from the title, everything on the page is still current product. My upline, Tracee Jones, originally taught the following layout at an extravaganza and I loved it so much I used the same layout in different colours.

Stamps: Priceless, Heartfelt Thanks
Cardstock: Real Red, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink
Ink: White Craft, Real Red, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Photo Corner Punch
Stamps: Baroque Motifs
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Whisper White

Birthday Card Books

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, being able to make quality gifts with my Stampin' Up! supplies is fantastic (both for the giver and the receiver)! Here's two Birthday Card Books that I made as Christmas presents, the one on the left for my Sister-in-Law, and the other for my Mother-in-Law.

They were really easy to make and you can find instructions here if you’d like to make one also. Click here for one I made for myself previously. They each cost around $15 to make, using 1/2 a pack of designer paper plus $5 to get spiral bound. I also put a piece of acetate front and back (it's hard to see in the photos) to give extra protection.

Wedding Invitations

I had the pleasure of helping to design and make wedding invitations for a good friend of mine. Her colours were cream, burgundy and dusky pink and it didn't take long to design a simple yet effective invitation that she loved! We made a pocket using Very Vanilla to pop the invitation and Flight Centre info in. For the After Function invitations we left out the pocket so that the invitation slipped straight into the Top Note sleeve.

Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Versamark
Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note Die, Manhatton Flower Embossing Folder, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Slot Punch, Gold Brads, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Dusky Pink Ribbon

Birthday Card Organiser - 3D Project

I'm sure I've said this before, but one of things that I have enjoyed best about joining Stampin' Up! is learning how to make great practical projects, both for myself and to give as gifts. This project was no exception. It's a birthday card organiser made from another designer series paper that is on sale this week, Raspberry Tart. I got the original idea from Leonie Schroder's blog and the instructions on how to make it can be found on SCS. It contains a perpetual calendar where I have written names and year of birth, and is fine for both bought and handmade cards and would make a great present! I put it together then took it along to my local stationery shop to get spiral bound.
Stamps: Lovely Letters, Priceless
Cardstock: Cameo Coral, Kraft, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP
Ink: Rose Red
Accessories: Big Shot, Little Leaves Sizzlits Die, Curly Label Punch
The Raspberry Tart papers are just gorgeous, here are some other projects which I made using them:

Window Frame Cards

There is a challenge going on our NZSU (NZ list of Stampin' Up! demonstrators) which anyone can enter, and it is to create a window frame card. I had a little play (OK maybe a big one) and came up with these 3 little beauties:This was my first ever try at heat embossing. Doesn't the little star just shine? Am loving that Baja Breeze colour at the moment too! If you are loving the Scallop Oval Punch, you only have until the end of November to order it, contact me if you would like one.
Stamps: A Holly, Jolly Christmas
Cardstock: Whisper White, Baja Breeze
Ink: Baja Breeze, Versamark
Accessories: Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool
I had fun making this one, but man did it take a while! And then I thought, "why have I put the curtains on the outside?" Oh well.
Stamps: A Holly, Jolly Christmas
Cardstock: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Ski Slope DSP
Ink: Baja Breeze, Real Red, Old Olive, Yoyo Yellow
Accessories: 1 3/8" Square Punch, Eyelet Border Punch, Dazzling Diamonds (on the star), Crimper
In my opinion, this one is just perfect simplicity (you'll have a different opinion I'm sure)! I'm hooked on this embossing thing now!

Cardstock: Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Versamark
Accessories: Hodgepodge Hardware, Real Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, 1 3/8" Square Punch
