Inking Up Embossing Folders

Here's a cute layout I've just finished. I started it last Sunday after church but was struck down by the flu the next day. The layout was inspired by one made by Krista Fenton on the My Digital Studio website.
I created my own "texture" around the outside on the base paper by selecting 3 pieces of cardstock, embossing them using different folders, inking them up and dabbed around the edges. For one I used shimmer paint so it's a bit hard to see that one in the photos. The lines across it were made by squishing a piece of linen thread into the grey ink pad then laying it on the page (I rubbed over it with a plastic bag).Stamps: Medallion, Sense of Time, Small Alphabet (Non-SU!)
Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Grey, Bashful Blue
Ink: Basic Grey, Bashful Blue, Frost White Shimmer Paint
Accessories: Big Shot, Timeless Type Junior Alpha Dies, Embossing Folders (Vintage Wallpaper, Perfect Polka Dots, Square Lattice), Sponge Dauber, Brayer, Hodgepodge Hardware, White 1/4 Grosgrain Ribbon, Paper Clip

Baby Mini Album

My nephew and his wife had their second baby boy (named Cooper) recently, so of course out came the crafting tools and I set to work on an original gift that they will be able to enjoy for many years to come.

It's got 12 6x6 pages with page protectors inside, with cardstock front and back. On the front I also added a clear binding cover to give it extra protection (especially when little fingers start wandering all over it ; ) ).
I basically went through all my stamp sets and pulled out all the verses/words that were appropriate for a baby (and cleaned each as I went along too). I used black for each one to "ground" it and give it some consistency (hope you know what I mean)!

You'll see that I used a retired DSP as I didn't have one from the current DSP's that I felt was appropriate, but a project like this is great for using up things like that, especially scraps etc. I made it in the same colour-blocking style as this album.

And here's the card to match:

Thank You Cards Galore!

My recently engaged friend commissioned me to create thank you cards to send after her engagement party. Her only request was for me to use Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise and Pink Passion. I came up with 7 samples as follows:The one she liked best was:
But decided it was just a bit too bright so we toned it down a little and came up with this:

Goodbye & Hello

Yes, the Summer Mini and Sale-a-Bration catalogues are drawing to a close on 31 March so you need to get in quick before the deadline if anything has taken your fancy. I have made a couple of cards using supplies from both, but have also coordinated them with a couple of sneak peaks at the upcoming Winter Mini catalogue which starts on 1 April. So all is not lost!

This big red round thingy-ma-jig is called the Medallion stamp and it would have to be the biggest stamp I've ever seen! It's great for both backgrounds and focal points and all sorts of occasions.
Stamps: Medallion (Winter Mini), Vintage Labels (Sale-A-Bration)
Cardstock: Kraft, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black
Accessories: 3/4" Real Red Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (Summer Mini), Crimper, Scallop Circle Punch

This big shape is called the "Top Note" and I cut it out in about 5 seconds using my new Big Shot die-cutting machine. I created a quilt effect by punching out squares of designer paper, gluing them onto a piece of cardstock, then putting it through the Big Shot. I've seen lots of these cards made on Splitcoast Stampers and had been "dieing" (excuse the pun!) to make one. I have to say that my photos don't do it justice because in real life, it's quite stunning! I WILL be making more of these.Stamps: Whimsical Words (Sale-A-Bration)
Cardstock: Basic Black, Kraft, Patterns Pack II Designer Series Paper
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Big Shot (Winter Mini), Top Note Die (Winter Mini), 1 1/4" Square Punch, Small Tag Punch, Tag Punch, White Ribbon, Hemp Twine
