JAI # 186 Inspiration Challenge - A Christmas Wreath

Well this project is a little (heaps) different for me!  It's an extremely eclectic mix of unusable bobbins, spools, reels, lace, buttons and ribbon along with Stampin' Up! retired Designer Series papers and a little stamping to boot!
Many of the cotton spools are VERY old, having come from sewing boxes which belonged to both of my Nana's.  What a wonderful way of being able to display and remember them, especially at Christmas time!

This challenge on JAI  was an inspiration challenge with the following photo of a gorgeous wreath:
Stamps:  Heart of Christmas, Gorgeous Grunge
Colours: Real Red, Old Olive, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake
Main Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note Die, Ovals Collection Framelits, Linen Thread, Crumb Cake Tulle Ribbon, Chipboard, Wire, Sponge Dauber

"All You Need Is LOVE" Double Layout

This is my double layout in celebration of my nephews' wedding back in February.  One of my sister's favourite things to say/philosophies is "All You Need Is Love" so it was totally appropriate to use that for this layout.

It really was a lovey dovey wedding and it was easy to see how much in love that the newly-weds are!

"Imagine the Possibilities" Layout

Gosh it's sometimes soooo hard cutting into a brand new pack of designer series paper! Especially when it's as pretty as this:
This is the DSP on offer with Sale-A-Bration at the moment, and here's what I made with it:
I've covered up the bottom photo as it's of the whole gang at daycare. The Soft Suede cardstock was folded in half when put through with the Top Note die so as to make it big enough for the 6x4 photo.

Also, the layout I've used is a standard one that I use over and over again for all my children's school photos. I scrapbook chronologically so they are all intermingled throughout my albums at the moment but one day my kids might ask for their own albums!

Stamps: Word Play

Baby Sympathy Card

What a solemn few days it's been in New Zealand. My heart goes out to all those affected by the terrible earthquake in Christchurch, especially those families who lost babies. With a baby in our own household at the moment, the thought of losing him is just unbearable. No words can express the grief that everyone is feeling at the moment.

I thought it would be timely to show a baby sympathy card I made recently. A friend of mine lost her baby girl full-term just before Christmas and this is what I made for her. I scoured the SCS site and found this card which seemed to signify what I was wanting in a card; soft, simple and clean. RIP Baby Teresa.Stamps: So Many Sayings (Retired), Curvy Verses, Fresh Cuts

Birthday Card Books

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, being able to make quality gifts with my Stampin' Up! supplies is fantastic (both for the giver and the receiver)! Here's two Birthday Card Books that I made as Christmas presents, the one on the left for my Sister-in-Law, and the other for my Mother-in-Law.

They were really easy to make and you can find instructions here if you’d like to make one also. Click here for one I made for myself previously. They each cost around $15 to make, using 1/2 a pack of designer paper plus $5 to get spiral bound. I also put a piece of acetate front and back (it's hard to see in the photos) to give extra protection.

Wedding Invitations

I had the pleasure of helping to design and make wedding invitations for a good friend of mine. Her colours were cream, burgundy and dusky pink and it didn't take long to design a simple yet effective invitation that she loved! We made a pocket using Very Vanilla to pop the invitation and Flight Centre info in. For the After Function invitations we left out the pocket so that the invitation slipped straight into the Top Note sleeve.

Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Versamark
Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note Die, Manhatton Flower Embossing Folder, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Slot Punch, Gold Brads, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Dusky Pink Ribbon

Look What I Managed To Make!

Life certainly is busy with a newborn in the house. I spend most of my time keeping on top of the washing & dishes! I've really missed having "my crafting time" but managed to make a card & matching 6x6 page for my friend who just had a baby girl. It took me most of Saturday to make with all the interruptions! (And now it's taken me until Wednesday to blog!)
My upline Tracee Jones suggested on our team forum that instead of stamping on plain paper to make wrapping paper, she just crimps a piece of cardstock which matches the card then pops the card underneath it. Have I done it right Tracee? I think it's a cool idea being able to see the card!

Thank You Cards Galore!

My recently engaged friend commissioned me to create thank you cards to send after her engagement party. Her only request was for me to use Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise and Pink Passion. I came up with 7 samples as follows:The one she liked best was:
But decided it was just a bit too bright so we toned it down a little and came up with this:
