I've actually made a few of these wallhangings now, both for each of my own children and as gifts for the children/babies of family and friends, but this was the first time I was able to use Stampin' Up fabric! I had been waiting for a more "boyish" collection to come out and was happy to see the Spice Cake fabric in the Summer Mini Catalogue. This fabric is still available to purchase as it has been carried over.
I used the big shot to cut out my letters, then ironed them on to the calico using the fabric adhesive. My sewing machine has a blanket stitch which I used around each letter. Then there is a 1" border (cut 1 1/2"), a 3" border (cut 3 1/2") then the binding (3" strip ironed in half). I only quilted around the calico frame with my machine but could have quilted more of course. In total it took about 4 hours to make. And I still have heaps of fabric left! Hmmm, what to make next?
Accessories: Big Shot, Simple Letters Alphabet Bigz Dies, Hearts & Brackets Die (Retired, for the Heart on the i), Sewing Machine, Spice Cake Designer Fabric, Calico, Thin Wadding.
